House
League - Select Teams
The Scarboro Sabres
select program is aimed at players who want a higher level of competition
and more ice and practice time. Select team players are choosen by tryouts,
which begin in October.
All select team
members must be signed members of a Scarboro
Sabres house league team and must provide proof of age (birth certificate).
Each select team
plays at approximately three tournaments per year, in and around the
east Toronto area. With parent and league permission, some teams participate
in out-of-town tournaments as well.
Why
play select hockey?
Select hockey provides a great opportunity for players to experience
a higher level of hockey. Players practice positional play and shift
changes are made "on the fly." Controlled checking is introduced
at Peewee level (age 11). Registration includes one hour practice time
per week and 2-3 games per tournament.
